Jim Carroll

Jim Carroll, drummer/percussionist, has been teaching and performing in the greater New York area since 1979.  He received a degree in Performance from the Berklee College of Music.

He is a former instructor at the Long Island Drum Center (13 years) and was a former Professor at Five Town's College and an adjunct professor at Suffolk Community College.  He has been an adjudicator for NYSSMA, SCMEA, and the Guitar Center Drum Off.  In addition, Jim has been on the instructional faculty of Greenport Schools, The Stony Brook School, and the Knox School.

Mr. Carroll's performance credits include playing with Eddie Brigati and Gene Cornish ("The Rascals"), Jazz Saxohonist David Liebman, songwriter Buzzy Linhart, as well as concerts and recordings with the acclaimed "Serenade" (Carnegie Recital Hall, Merkin Hall).  His studio credits include work at A&R studios, NYC, recordings with members of the group "Zebra", "The Coasters", and numerous CD's and radio/television jingles at various studios on Long Island and in NYC.  He is currently the drummer/percussionist for Theatre Three Productions, Port Jefferson, NY for over 20 years.  In addition, he has performed as the original drummer for an off-Broadway show.

Jim's teaching covers the full range of percussion; drum set (all styles), rudimental/orchestral percussion, Latin Percussion, as well as Djembe, Tabla, and Bodhran.

Many of Jim's former students have gone on to get their degrees in music at various colleges across the country.  They have been performing and touring with Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow, and Blue Oyster Cult as well as their own groups that have become multi-Platinum selling bands.

In addition to his tenure at Theatre Three, Jim Carroll is currently performing/recording Amber Ferrari/Joplin's Pearl opening for national acts, as well as "Richard Rabatin's 'Whiskey Rebellion', a seven member jazz/blues/funk group.
